The group tends to mix various branches of Earth Science/ Geology with visits to and discussion of local sites of interest and the streaming of lectures on the internet.
Members are welcome to show their travel slides of interesting areas e.g. Iceland ( which was a past theme).
East Lancashire is a very interesting area for classical Geology. Particularly the role it played in the development of the Carboniferous Period with the limestones, gritstones and coals and the zone fossils that helped in the relative dating of the sedimentary beds.
